You requested th folowing | am writing to make an FOI request which falls under three parts. I would like to request the total number of complaints received by the University about sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment, for each year from 2017 to the present day. Please would you break the figures down by complaints where the respondents 2 student And complaints where the respondent a taf member We have not received any complaints of sexual misconduct from staff within the time frame that you have requested. Please find the student data below. These numbers are the numbers of complaints received by our complaint’s office. Acadomic Year| No.of complaints [ome | The figures below have been provided by our onsite security team and are classified as informal complaints. The number variations are big because a lot of these cases are not taken any further or made formal via the students complaints office by the students. The records are kept independently for each team, so we would not be able to break down for you which of these complaints were made formal and tie in with the data in the table above. 1 Year No. of complaints Investigated Disciplinary 2016-1 7 10 3 0 2017-1 8 9 4 0 2018-1 9 15 6 0 2019-2 0 1 0 0 Secondly, how many of these complaints proceeded to an internal hearing by the university? 3 of the above complaints provided by the student’s complaints office proceeded to an internal hearing. I would like to request the dates of internal hearings from 2017 to present day. 16/17 – November 2017 17/18 – July 2018 18/19 – October 2019 19/20 – All cases are ongoing I would like to know the outcome of each hearing, • Was the complaint dismissed with no further action and for what reason • Was the respondent found in breach of University policy • If so, what was their sanction e.g. o Restriction of movement on campus o Suspension o Expulsion (or sacking in the case of a staff member) 16/17 – November 2017. Respondent found in breach of University policy. Formal warning issued. 17/18 – July 2018. Respondent found in breach of University policy. Expelled. 18/19 – October 2019. Respondent found in breach of University policy. Restriction of movement on campus. 19/20 – All cases are ongoing For the third part of the request, if there are any minutes taken from these hearings, I would like to be sent the minutes with all sensitive information redacted. The university does not take formal minutes at these hearings. If the release of any of this information is prohibited on the grounds of breach of confidence, I ask that you supply me with copies of the confidentiality agreement and remind you that information should not be treated as confidential if such an agreement has not been signed. We believe we have provided you with all the information you requested. However, if you are unhappy with the way the University has handled your request, or with the information you have received, you may ask for an internal review.
