I recently spoke at the National School Boards Association Conference. I always enjoy speaking to school board members who by and large just want their local schools to be better. Anyway, I spontaneously asked my audience for a show of hands. "Raise your hand if you voted for the Common Core Standards." Not a hand went up. "Raise your hand if any politician in your jurisdiction campaigned for office by promising Common Core (national curriculum." No hands. Common Core Content Standards an extra-legislative takeover of the public schools. They were created and lobbied for by The Gates Foundation and Pearson. Then they were imposed on 45 states by the Federal Department of Education, a wholly- owned subsidiary of the Gates Foundation, with massive financial incentives. This is a national curriculum without anyone having the balls to call it what it is. There are even A-list private schools embracing Common Core. Gates has done irreparable harm to a system that wasn't so swell to begin with. Khan Academy, "blended learning," KIPP, the "flipped classroom" and most other evil hands of magic beans are the concoctions of this billionaire bully and his pals Walton and Broad.
