Susan Tanzi Pfeifer is our ECMO Program Manager and is central to our operations (and everything we have done so far with the transfer) and will, no doubt, be very helpful to you with anything you need. Brian Van Velzor will continue to help with all logistics as well from the hospital side. We recognize that it is difficult to have her so far away until such time as you are able to obtain visas and visit. So it will be important to ensure that you are update on any changes in her condition. Currently, Ms. Al Riyami's oxygenation is much improved with changes to the ECMO by Dr. Bacchetta and with removal of fluids which the team has been aggressively pursuing even from the beginning of the transport. Her PaO2 (the partial pressure of oxygen in the lungs was over 300, far better than the 50s-60s that she has mostly been, allowing us to turn down the ventilator to 40% F1O2 which is to say, 40% oxygen). We are resting her lungs on the ventilator, reviewing the pathology with our specialist lung pathologist and will update you further as significant developments occur. Bacchetta and Agerstrand as well as an outstanding flight team. It is our hope that we are able to affect a measure of recovery, as difficult as that may be.
