It also seems clear that the bank, now PNC, is a victim of Hardman's fraud as well. Tell him that it seems that someone inside the bank may have been complicit in Hardman's actions, but that you cannot tell until all of the documents have been provided. Tell him that both Steve and the bank need to go to the police and report this so a proper investigation can begin. If he says I should go alone tell him that Steve has been advised to report Hardman to the authorities and that he will tell them he offered to come with the bank, but the bank declined. Use your judgment how best to play this with Krantz, but giving him the impression that you think it would be in the bank's interest to also file a complaint in the event it turns out some officer in the bank played loose with the loan application may be to our advantage. If you think it is appropriate, let Krantz know that I am, and have been, willing to work something out with the bank and that you will work with him to arrange something suitable. I don't want to make this unnecessarily burdensome, but a face-to-face meeting should be more effective than a telephone call. Again, I leave this to your judgment.
