Note Details: Author: igroff Body: I met Deric Senne for lunch on 3/11. Deric was a colleague of Will Ford at Lehman prop many years ago. He is joining a family office in Dubai. The investment team for the family office are mainly American or British. They currently trade with three or four bulge firms. They are somewhat unsophisticated in that they email an order to a US broker during their workday for execution in the US during market hours. 95% of the public assets are invested in the US with some in European stocks for the last 5%. The CIO is not interested in having many more trading relationships. Deric was hired to do the trading and the CIO told him "we need someone who can help us fill the void in coverage". Deric knew our model and told the CIO he knows that we would be the best firm for this. Deric did say no promises as he has to get in and understand the current landscape. Deric was honest in that he does not know who the family is or what the assets are currently. He said the family is publicity averse. He did say the family also has some private investments that he believe to be substantial including UFC (The Ultimate Fighting Championship), and McLaren Automotive. Based on this he thinks the public funds to be good sized.
