Scenic Hudson's River Center Welcomes
American Center for Folk Music
Oct. 16 concert featuring three music legends to introduce center to area mu=ic lovers
Beacon, N.Y.—Scenic Hudson is pleased to announce that the American C=nter for Folk Music (ACFM) will be located in
the River Center at Scenic Hu=son's Long Dock Park in Beacon. The River Center is a LEED-certifie= restored barn, part of
a 15-acre Hudson Riverfront park that once was a bl=ghted former industrial site. Now the ACFM—a new nonprofit
organiza=ion—will bring dynamic folk music, performance and education to thi= outdoor destination in a vibrant city
easily accessible from the Hudson Va=ley, New York City and beyond.
Kickoff concert on Oct. 16 will feature legendary performers = From the River Center, the ACFM will offer education
events, outdoor conce=ts, and informal information and jam sessions. The group is kicking things o=f with a Sunday, Oct.
16, at 4 p.m., stellar outdoor concert featuring thre= folk music legends—Tom Chapin, John McCutcheon and Joe Louis

River Center will continue to host Scenic Hudson programming and l=cal uses The ACFM will fully occupy the River
Center's third floor as office s=ace. The group also will have access to the River Center's first an= second floors, which
will continue to host Scenic Hudson activities as wel= as occasional uses by area community groups.

Scenic Hudson Senior Vice President Steve Rosenberg said, "We're proud to have created this special place where
people enjoy the inspiring=beauty that has earned the Hudson River Valley its national reputation. We =80 re extremely
pleased to help sustain the valley's arts traditi=n by having the American Center for Folk Music bring top-notch programs
to on River Center. This collaboration will enhance Beacon's thriving a=ts community and contribute to all that Scenic
Hudson's Long Dock P=rk has to offer."
David A. Ross, president of the ACFM board, noted "The center is gra=eful to Scenic Hudson, and we are thrilled to be
located in this beautifull= restored building which has quickly become a landmark on the Beacon waterf=ont. We look
forward to using the River Center as our first headquarters, a=d will be holding planning meetings, informational get-
togethers as well as=informal concerts and jam sessions inside and on the grounds adjacent to th= building."
Music center has clear vision
The ACFM promises to bring strong benefits to Beacon and the Hudson Valley. T=e group's mission is to celebrate
America's rich legacy of f=lk music and to deepen public understanding of its contribution to American=culture and
society. The center also seeks to promote today's vibra=t folk music scene while supporting a city noted as a cultural hub
in the H=dson Valley.
Community resource and economic engine
In highlighting broad community benefits that will come from the addition of=the ACFM to the River Center, Scenic
Hudson cited jobs and economic opportu=ity. The park and River Center—now with the ACFM—will give p=ople one
more reason to come to Beacon and will complement the city'. thriving Main Street business district by bringing more
people to shops an= restaurants there as well as to Dia:Beacon, the world-class art museum pre=enting the collection of
the Dia Art Foundation. The ACFM is part of Beaconrrts (Beacon Arts Community Association/BACA), a collaborative of
cultural organizations working together to support Beacon's creative community=
