Dear Bill,
IPI is organizing our conference on a global r=sponses to future pandemics. I believe the idea coincides with your
=hinking on this matter. Chancellor Angela Merkel certainly agrees. C=nfirmed speakers are Margaret Chan, Peter
Maurer, and Michael Moller (head of the UN Office in Geneva).
I believe that the threat of future pandemics =ill be one of the most serious future challenges to the multilateral syste=
and to mankind. I think the platform for you to give the keynote ad=ress would be unique.
The conference will be strictly policy oriented,&nbs=; with a goal of setting up possible new mechanisms for resilience
a=d the management of future crises. The conference will be held on September 11-12, at the Palais de Nations in
Geneva.
The event is fully financed. If you would give the k=ynote, many of the health movers will be in attendance.
I hope your foundation is pleased with its&nbs=; cooperation with IPI. We were very pleased with the recent meetings
that=took place in Seattle with the team, and in New York and Geneva with Chris=opher Elias. And I am looking forward
to future cooperation in multiple fields.
If you would have the time, I think it would be usef=l if we could meet in the near future. I will be in Europe for the next
tw= weeks, and could meet at your convenience
Warmest,
Terje
