thank you and progress report
Daniel Lieberperson,
may God bless you and keep you and always make Her face to shine upon you
i am MOST grateful for the time and expertise you shared with me, thanks again too for the student, your book, and the
references
to have you so nearby and readily accessible as we design a possible spine curvature measure is very reassuring
meanwhile we are making rapid progress on other fronts
to wit
the Club already has all these variables for the elites sprinters
1—reaction time—time from gunshot to hitting the back irons—yes positively associated with best times but weakly so
and only fractions of a second
2—best time to 20m—we believe this is the key variable in which knee symmetry is expected to show strong effects—
the time for the sprinter to rise from near prone to near upright—Shelly Ann is known not to have the fastest reaction
times but to be the fastest to reach 20m-after which she keeps pounding with her perfectly symmetrical knees
3—brute strength—they reason, a 6 year old can do it and no one practices it—unlike javelin or spear or hammer
throwing, so it will tend to be a measure of pure strength—they measure it very precisely and at regular intervals—is the
athlete getting stronger or weaker, measured across his or her whole body
what we will add so far is only the following
4—leg strength for each leg alone and for the two at the same time
5—degree of spinal curvature
6—degree of knee FA for all new recruits (N-20)
remember, this IS a long-term project, with all the attendant advantages
so we should have a pretty complete set of data relevant to sprinting by next April
many thanks for your help
bob
