Subject: NES stair update Richard Kahn HBRK Associates Inc. 575 Lexington =venue 4th Floor New York, NY 10022 Begin forwarded message: Date: =/b>January 28, 2015 at 10:18:26 PM =ST From: =/b>Brandon Thompson To: qb>Richard Kahn la Subject: =/b>Re: Thank =ou Dear =r. Kahn, Thank you for your letter. Just =ould like to update you on the Staircase and the Stair-rail. We are making a good progress. Again, I changed the method of =estoring Staircase and the Stair-rail. I decided to remove the glue =rom the Steps in mechanical way. Although is a bit more time consuming, = would like to avoid over use the chemicals. Rock-miracle contains =ethaline Chloride and beside the smell, it gets into surroundings and =s harmful to the health. I will try varies methods to avoid harsh =hemicals. As far as the Stair-rail is concern, I am washing it with =lcohol and steel wool # 0000, so there are no side affects. I already =leaned 65% of the top. The rail on the Second Floor, had a lot of =cuffs, scratches and dents. The very deep dents, I steamed them up and =he wood grain lifted up completely. I did the same with the rest of the =cratches and the Rail on the Second Floor looks like brand new. Again, =hen I finish cleaning it, I will use finest French Polish. French =olish is a natural finish, and is completely neutral, so there will be =o side effects. I re-finished a lot of Stair-rails for =aries museums and the effects were very nice. I think, I will impress =r. Epstein with this work. For now, I am cleaning it very carefully, as =t has small details and I can not leave anything to chance. I will update you within two days again. I received it =rom Marwin on Monday. Many times my estimates may seem =igh, however, I always estimate the work for the highest quality and =xecution. The stairs is a relatively small project, so =his is fine. You mentioned a possible project in New Mexico. I will be =appy to participate, as I have expertize in wood =estoration, Finishing and Re-finishing and Preservation. I imagine, =his would be much bigger project, and will go for =idding. Would you be so kind and let me know the possible date of this =roject? I will be happy to submit my methods of =reserving the wood, staining and finishing as well.
