As you may recall, last year YIVO honored Stanley =ischer, the near miraculous (I know there are no miracles in finance) Governor =1 the Bank of Israel. The event had an intellectual incandescence to it that =ade it memorable. As a result, =e decided to honor Jacob Frenkel, the chairman of JPMorgan Chase International, =ho was Fischer's predecessor at the Bank of Israel. I hope you won't think it corny to restage the event, =aving asked two of the other speakers to appear again. They are Larry Summers and Fischer himself. Given the wisdom of these =eople, we can expect very shrewd analyses of the situation in the world economy =nd especially in the United States and in Israel. Moreover I would not be a bit surprised if the =peakers were to address the precarious position of Israel in international =ffairs. So there will be big brains appearing on the =latform. Big brains also =eserve big brain audiences. I am hoping =hat you will attend and bring colleagues. And, of course, if you would like to join me at my table, that =ould be great.
