About Professor Ed Boyden:
Professor Ed Boyden is a world-class neuroscientist with degrees from MIT and Stanford, co-directs MIT's Center
for NeuroBiological Engineering and leads the Synthetic Neurobiology Group at the MIT MediaLab's new Center
for Extreme Bionics. His work in optogenetics- controlling neurons with light- has earned him the Paul G. Allen
Distinguished Investigators Award, the Grete Lundbeck Brain Prize, and talks at TED and the World Economic
Forum.
