Due to 2 days' worth of shortened periods and 1 snow day, we will have a full review Tuesday and the test will be Wednesday. HOMEWORK Monday night - please complete review packet from the weekend. Use the answer key posted and come to class tomorrow with any questions. Unit 3 assessment WEDNESDAY. Topics will include: 1) Ratios - a comparison of 2 quantities. "order matters!!" - find the ratio of 2 quantities - find the simplest form of a ratio (a lowest-term fraction) - complete a ratio table (using the simplest form of the ratio and finding equivalent ratios (fractions)) - solve ratio problems using a tape diagram "LABEL!!" 2) Rates -- a rate is a ratio comparing 2 different "kinds" of quantities (i.e., time and money, or distance and gallons of gas used) - calculate unit rate - every ratio has 2 possible unit rates; the quantity you want ONE of goes on the bottom of the ratio ("per"="out or=bottom of ratio), and you divide the top by the bottom to get ONE of that quantity. **LABEL!!** - use the simplest form of a rate to solve rate word problems - convert from one unit of measurement to another 3) Plot (x,y) values from a table on a coordinate graph. "LABEL!! Order matters!" 4) Percent problems - decide what is the part and what is the whole (100%) - solve "percent of problems using equivalent fractions and/or a picture/model. **LABEL.
