NW Washington. DC 20062 202/463 54130 It is my distinct pleasure to invite you to serve on the Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's U.S.-Israel Business Initiative. As a leader of this organization, you will be at the forefront of the private sector's efforts to secure and strengthen the commercial relationship between the United States and Israel. As you may know, the U.S. Chamber is the world's largest business organization representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions. The U.S. Chamber's U.S.-Israel Business Initiative (USIBI) is the only Washington-based national program focused on promoting policies and business partnerships that strengthen the economies of both countries. The Board will include a small group of senior business and political leaders from the United States and Israel who will champion our bilateral commercial relationship and guide the work of the USIBI. Prime Minister Bank, your participation in this important initiative would impart to our work significant credibility and enhance our ability to safeguard the U.S.-Israel economic relationship. The Board will meet once a year around a major annual forum, and rotate meetings between Israel and the United States. Roles and responsibilities of board members include: • Governing the U.S.-Israel Business Initiative, by helping to set broad policy priorities and objectives; • Serving as a key advocate and spokesperson for the Initiative's agenda with governments and the public at large and promoting the Initiative's mission; EFTA00595441 His Excellency Ehud Barak August 27, 2014 Page Two • Providing guidance to the U.S.-Israel Business Initiative on growing the bilateral commercial relationship. The Board will lead an ambitious agenda that will include: 1. Advancing trade and investment policies to promote bilateral commerce. 2. Creating new programs and initiatives to enhance bilateral cooperation around areas of member interest, including information technology, cybersecurity, and energy development 3. Organizing high-profile events, meetings, and bidirectional business missions. 4. Educating business leaders about the U.S.-Israel commercial relationship through the Chamber's unique network of 3,500 state and local chambers of commerce. 5. Develop a world-class U.S.-Israel think tank to provide independent scholarship on the U.S.-Israel business relationship. Additional information about our program is attached.
