We have a really unique wearable, doppel, that does not monitor you, does not send you messages, but can make you feel more alert and focused or more calm, on demand. This has come out of extensive research and experimentation we did in psychophysiology, the roots of our emotions in our body, and ways that these can be affected to change how we think, feel and behave. It is empathic technology, subtle technology that works with your body. We do believe we qualify as an essential self technology, which is why I think likes it so much! We have had an unusual path getting here, I am a theoretical physicist turned hardware designer (bio below) and the other guys are an engineer, a materials scientist and an industrial designer. We have very rigorously and extensively tested the effect doppel has on people, including independent academic tests measuring vigilance which found that if you put your doppel at the right settings it increases your alertness and doubles your focus. It also works to calm you down, its beat sets your pace. We also found it works for people who suffer from anxiety and depression, although we prefer to be quiet about this as we wouldn't want to stigmatise the user, we simply describe it as performance enhancing.
