Begin forwarded message: From: "Ken Holmes" ctl fr-" Date: February 5 2013 6:04:58 PM AST To: "'Brice"' Cc: Subject: RE: Your e-ticket: AAC25I Reply-To: Brice, That's no problem, and perhaps I misunderstood, as the parameters changed from your first message. Providing layout ideas, meeting the crew, discussing upcoming projects, etc. is fine. As we've mentioned previously, I handle the landscape/irrigation construction side of the business, so that makes sense. However, Cynthia manages the garden center and is licensed to spray pesticides. I am not. She can't, by law, instruct an unlicensed person to spray, i.e., your crew, nor can anyone in our company "apply product on a property more than 30 minutes away from a licensed applicator". So if part of my visit is to include training your crew in pesticide application, that can't happen. Fertilization, yes- I can handle that. As to pesticide application, we can discuss options in general terms with your staff, though I highly recommend sending a competent crew member to the CORE training at UVI. We can provide a comprehensive written fertilization/herbicide/pesticide program. We can make periodic visits to the property and our company can actually handle the treatment, if required. We can work with your licensed spray applicator in adhering to a proper spray program. We can provide plant materials and hard goods required. We can handle any of the landscape/irrigation/lighting installation aspects as needed. And we can provide a turn-key landscape and irrigation design for the entire island if needed. With that said, if this makes sense and you still want me to come over, I will. Either way, I still strongly urge you to look at hiring a full time, qualified landscape professional to ride herd on your crew daily. You should see an improvement in the overall viability of the landscape in a very short time. He/she would probably negate the need for a couple of laborers as well as the irrigation consultant that you currently pay. If the recommendation I previously provided doesn't meet your approval you may want to look at working with Florapersonnel out of Florida (www.florapersonel.com). They're fee based, but can vet someone for you pretty thoroughly. Also, www.hortjobs.com is a good option, though you have to do your own due diligence on the candidate. If you are wanting me to work as a consultant in order to train your staff, I can. However, a 2 day impromptu exercise is not in your best interest or mine. I have a heavy workload here, but suggest that we postpone this training session/consultation until mid March when I can spend at least a week working with your crew. In the interim we can plan in advance how to make the most of everyone's time, you can give me an accounting of your application equipment and product inventory, and I can bring over product/equipment that you are lacking that I feel we will need to be thorough and successful. Let me know your thoughts.
