The TerraMar Project has advanced even more since we last communicated and we are close to launching. I am attaching the latest PP of the project. Briefly, to recap, I zeroed in on International Waters because a group of NGO's came to see me to ask for my help in raising awareness for the area. I realized that I was incredibly ignorant of not only the history and size of International Waters, but also of the importance and laws around them, in fact I did not even know where International Waters were! I spent several months reading and studying and talking to various maritime law experts on the subject. In short, the area represents 45% of our planet or 61% of our oceans and it is a mess of competing and conflicting laws and, in certain cases, no laws at all. Where there is a great mess there tends to be great opportunity. TerraMar I believe is an opportunity that can bring awareness and large numbers of people to support change and bring new funding to an area that desperately needs it. The power of numbers to ask for change, and new people to help fund initiatives, could create a serious dialogue and make a real difference. This project, and all of its elements, appeal to both serious NGO's and Academic institutions as well as people, young and old, who love the idea of being able to speak out for something that they are genuinely and legitimately a part of. By becoming Ambassadors to TerraMar, people can represent and speak for species that can't speak for themselves. TerraMar is creating a global voting/polling platform where every man, women and child has a vote outside of creed, colour, religion, and state. This new voice can also be heard and reverberated with the creation of a newspaper, The Daily Catch, which will be featured on TerraMar's web site where anything and everything related to the ocean will be aggregated. TerraMar is hoping to create a grass roots Ocean Movement by the creation of a virtual Protectorate of the Ocean using social media, something that has not been done well for the Ocean Space..one of the most successful NGO's has 60,000 likes on Facebook to MacDonald 80 Million to give one example!' With your help TerraMar will reach its full potential and create a paradigm shift in business as usual in the High Seas and maybe across all the ocean in general, both from a perception stand point, and potentially creating a way for a new type of ocean discussion. TerraMar is having a soft launch In Gabon June 8th at a Forum for African Heads of State and business leaders. After Gabon I head to Rio for the Rio + 20 conference. I have been invited to speak and participate at 2 events - GESCOM hosted by UNESCO, and at an event called Climate Change and Sustainability hosted by the the Inter-American Development Bank and there is a possiblity that I might head to speak at TED Global after that. TerraMar could not have a finer launch platform A micro site will be up and running prior to June 8th which will explain the W W H W of the project — The Why, What ,When, and How. People will be able to sign up for their passports and there will be news on The Daily Catch and information on the High Seas. The full site will follow about a month later with a large amount of content being supplied by various institutions, the Smithsonian, being one of the largest. I am working with two companies to build out the Web site both based in CA. Freud Communications is handling the PR. There is of course more but don't want to inundate you with details.
