We are in full preproduction of our "Radical Breakthroughs" series/season for Closer To Truth. We expect to finish preproduction, with a complete production plan (including contributors, locations and schedule), by mid/late November. Attached are phase-one (rough) outlines of the first two episodes. As the first phase of our preproduction, we will have similar 2-3 page outlines for all 13 episodes. No contributors/interviewees will have been contacted, nor on- location filming schedules developed (needed for visual relevance and efficiencies). (At this stage - phase one of preproduction - we appreciate feedback on content, especially for those episodes covering topics you have thought about, like these on mathematics.) The second phase of preproduction begins when we commence contacting the potential contributors/interviewees, assessing their ideas, relevance and communication skills. We will develop, for each of the 13 episodes, the narrative arc (for each episode) and simulate the sequences of contributors/interviewees and the flows and structure of arguments. We will also ask prospective contributors/interviewees for their suggestions of additional contributors/interviewees, which will all lead to a second document, with updated contributors/interviewees, for each episode. In the third phase of preproduction we will develop an on-location filming plan, optimizing locations for filming all 13 episodes in parallel (obviously), clustering in key areas (e.g., San Francisco, Oxford/Cambridge, etc.). We will also ask some contributors/interviewees to fly into these locations (as we cannot go to a city for only 2-3 contributors/interviewees). The nature of the process is that we are always and iteratively modifying, tweaking, improving the arc, outline and structure of episodes.
