May this be the sweetest year yet for the ganze meshpucha! This year I've (finally) completed the annotated family archives covering the 1930s & 40s inro a chronological (more or less) presentation of events, family stories, and supporting documentation. After many versions, this one appears to explain what happened to our family in Europe, and how some escaped (like my mother, Aunt Olga, and their parents, as opposed to what happened to family and friends who were left in Europe. So, as part of my repentance 'for all the sins I've sinned against (y'sll) either knowingly or unknowingly' : EFTA00697356 'How Our Family Escaped' is available in several forms: * Free-to-everyone Online (reduced file size, so reduced image resolution and quality) * Publication-quality (300 DPI) PDF file prepared by Lulu Press: Great for viewing on a hi-res screen with a PDF-viewer to inspect documents and photos, or to print hard-copy. Free to family and friends (ie anyone reading this :-). * Published book form (ie easily available from now on, without relying on me :-): * High-Quality Hard Cover (color; 8.5 x 11 in.) * Trade paperback (b&w; 6 x 9 in.) * More formats after Succos. I've also made some 'works-in-progress' family archive projects available online, both in reduced-file-size format (best bandwidth efficiency; small file size) or full-resolution PDF files (best image quality, though very large files). Some of our home movies are also online. All the information for accessing the above material is summarized in the attached file Guide2FamArchives.pdf attached to this email. The reduced-file-size (though still very readable) version of the published 'How Our Family Escaped' is also attached. It would please my Mother and her parents (and I know it pleases Aunt Olga :-) that these true stories, and the archival materials they collected are permanently available to their descendants. Above all, my mother was concerned that the descendants who would be born 'after the last witness has passed' would not be able to learn the lessons of the past. She didn't think this was an academic question; she felt that 'lesson learned' had to be based on realism, and certainly not on shallow or overly-generalized so-called 'history' texts/ The result is not perfect, though I believe that it does tell the story so that almost anyone could figure out what happened to us, if they have the patience and inclination. So, Again: 'L'shana Tova Tikasavu' Love, Ron, Marcy, Rachel, Rebecca, and David PS: EFTA00697357
