I was kind of non-responsive and agreed that there are always lessons to share etc. Half an hour later I came up to my office and got a call a from the folks at the WB saying that they had heard from the foundation that I was no longer interested in the position and were curious as to whether or not I would be withdrawing my application. It is a confidential application process (there are 3 people at the WB who know and Steve, and you) and the WB has been very good about trying to keep it that way. They asked me if I had decided not to keep the process confidential. Not sure where this is coming from and how it became like this but Steve and I have not told anyone. This makes me very sad. I have had one real (merit-based opportunity) in the past few years come my way. It is a legitimate position and I feel like I have earned a try to at least apply. Did you tell Boris anything about the WB? I don't want to ask him because it will just confirm that I have applied. He could be guessing.
