I'm waiting on a reply from him after emailing him today. Based on research I have done, I believe we would need to buy SIP channels from Skype and have these logically connected to our new Panasonic Phone system through whatever internet service provider we have at FTC and LSJ. I'm working with Steve Bisby to determine if the Panasonic systems at FTC and LSJ are capable of supporting the requirements necessary for the Skype Connect service to work properly. I did not see the Panasonic logo listed on the Skype website as one of the certified systems but am waiting for Steve to confirm this. Once this is setup, the Skype network becomes the mechanism through which we can route telephone calls to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Ultimately, it looks as if calls to land from lines, other skype users, etc would be seamless. If this is the case, the foundation of this Skype connect will be quality bandwidth. The piece of the ATT offering most interesting will be fiber connectivity from STT to the mainland US. This should minimize latency and the potential for poor Skype calls. I'll get more to you as I clear it up.
