Greetings from Arles ... A great place to spend 2 or 3 days (Robin booked us for 5).
I've had a lot of interaction with Stanford. They did compromise, but it may or may not be good enough on the personal
piece (it is good enough on the professional side — they've allocated the resources to help raise funding, so it looks
plausible). I've got two people running models, and by mid-week we'll know whether our lifestyle has to take a dive in
order for us to live there. Meanwhile, I've decided to deal with Steve H, and not bother with Mike Smith. Steve is currently
in Brazil, and we'll get together shortly after I return (this coming Friday). I think he may come through with something
interesting, along the lines of what I had in mind. But Steve is unpredictable, so we'll see..
Off to Berlin tomorrow.
