For some reason I was having major difficulty getting online in the inter-island area of the San Thursday June 10th I drove from San Juan to Puerto Del Rey (about 1.5 - 2 hours) which is a fairly large port and Marina on the Eastern coast of Puerto Rico just south of Fajardo. The marina serves as a storage facility for many private yachts, fishing boats and other boats, they have a very protected entrance, slips, fuel dock, dry-dock stacks, and it is all very secure. There is only one entrance by land that I could see, which is guarded by armed security officers, who also patrol the property on foot and in carts. I was approached several times by the guards as I walked around taking pictures. I was also denied access to one of the dry-stack areas where the huge forklifts were putting boats up for hurricane season storage. I had to go to three different offices, and talk to two different Managers before I was able to speak with Yvette Cortes who is the General Manager of the Dry-Dock area, which is also where the ramps are located, as well as the two Travel Lifts, and the Boat Fork Lifts. EFTA00758734 *Everyone I spoke to, thought it seemed "strange" since they have never had a request like this before, since they are a marina/ boat yard and not a cargo port. They asked me "why we don't use BlackHawk or Norma G H shipping who ships regularly out of San Juan to the Virgin Islands, especially since they have loading equipment?" I told them that we were interested in using our own barge so we could bring the palms Directly to the final destination "a Privately-owned Island" rather than port to port then to the island, and they seemed to understand, not that they need to "understand", but I wanted them to at least consider it since they were leaning toward telling me "No we don't do that!" I was also asked by Sra. Cortes to put my request in writing via email to her and the Main Administration Assistant Blanca Rodriguez, so that they can address the request properly. I have copied and pasted the text of that email below the pictures so that you all may see. The Following pictures are of the Travelifls (which may be used to load the palms from the trucks to the barge) There are also pictures of the ramp where the Barge will pull in to be loaded.
