The first sketch is the existing column & arch design. The second sketch shows the proposed design which would keep the existing arch and replace the existing double columns with a single pier with a corral stone impost detail. This solution is most like Option 1 on Gensler's sketch which is shown in the third image. The last 2 photos are the existing conditions. I believe this solution has many advantages. First, I think it looks harmonious with the existing architecture; it's more of a classic colonial look. Secondly, for the existing main house, this solution will be far less destructive during construction, and will save much time & expense. Let me know if you have any questions. STEPHEN M.
