I stumbled into the winner's circle in the Calif. Supreme Court, thank goodness, and have chosen to quit while • ahead. (Thomas Aquinas reminded us of prudence as an important virtue, so prudent I am trying to be). Ted Olson and David Boies came onto the litigation scene right after the Calif Supreme Court upheld Prop 8. So now Ted/David are going for the bleachers — a nationwide win on federal constitutional grounds. Not just California. They may very well hit the jackpot (to mix my metaphors) out here in the Golden West, but then they have to march to (or, more precisely, be forced into) the US Supreme Court. Famous last words: They will lose. This is a great policy debate, and it is up to We the People to decide. Not We the Judges.
