Eero wifi system https://www.eero.com Looking at their website, it looks like it has potential and might be a solution for 71st st (and Palm Beach and maybe Zorro and Paris as well). Basically, Apple's AirPort Extreme basestations are a single point radio transmitter. They have no controls for broadcast signal strength — so if they're too close to each other they broadcast over top each other — and we have to hardwire each of them for reliable connections because their wireless relay doesn't work worth a shit — why I asked to run a cable from the kitchenette on the 6th floor to the AV cabinet, to prevent the signal dropping to the AppleTV that lives there. Eero appears to be taking some tricks from enterprise wireless systems and wrapping them in a consumer- friendly package. They're dynamically managing signal strength and forming a wireless mesh (ala Sonos) so EFTA00826589 that the entire area is blanketed in wife and the system automatically manages the quickest route to the Internet. Their app tells us what the signal strength is, when nodes need to be moved closer / further / added, and what the intemet speed is. If the boss is interested, the 6th floor would make a great test case for their 3-pack starter kit: One in the basement, one in the 6th floor kitchenette and one in the AV rack. If it works, it'd save us the headache of running cable up there. Hope you're enjoying the weekend!
