One taboo topic I am interested in is the area of LENR - so called above unity devices that produce more energy than they should according to conventional physics. There was a good summary a few months ago on the Edge website https://www.edge.org/response-detail/26753 A 1 year trial of the I MW Rossi ECAT reactor in the US seems to have gone well, and the report is due out in a week or two.
