From: MARK TRAMO < > To: Vicky Goodman < Bcc: jeevacation@gmai Subject: Re: Thank you Date: Mon, 09 Apr 2018 01:54:47 +0000 Attachments: Syllabus.MusicMindBrain.2018Spring.pdf Dear Vicky, Thank you so very much for your email and kind words - the pleasure was mine! How insightful was to propose such an august event for the Friends of Semel Open Mind program?! Lee Unkrich is an artistic genius - and extraordinarily humble given his string of Pixar successes and recent Oscar or directing "Coco". ("Finding Nemo" was one of my daughter's childhood favorites.) And it was great to meet David Reuben - a fellow Beatles aficionado this past half-century! I would welcome the opportunity to participate in your events. I understand the Semels are quite the musicophiles, and I hope to meet them someday soon. There is so much going on at Semel that is related to my research, teaching, and clinical activities - yours was the third Semel event I've had the honor of participating in this academic year. In the event you, or a Semel colleague might be interested in auditing one or more of my Music Mind & Brain seminars at t e music school, I'm attaching a Syllabus. And please call me "Mark"! I look forward to seeing you again soon. Your vast knowledge of both music and neurology are extraordinary and they provided a rich context and depth to the discussion. It was a pleasure to meet you. I was es ecially touched and moved by your comment about how introducing the film together with my granddaughter, related to the theme of family in "Coco". I shared your remarks with Emily and I think they were very meaningful to her too. It was a pleasure to meet you and I hope we have a chance to work together again. Our board members are particularly interested in the relationship between music and the brain soil you are willing, it is quite possible that we may call on you again sometime to be a discussant. I am not sure that you know but several years back, the theme of our biannual gala was "Music and the Brain" . Vijay Gupta, a violinist with the LA Phil performed and talked about his work with Nathanial Ayers, the cellist who was portrayed in the movie, The Soloist. Thank you again.
