He wanted me to know that this is not an issue over which he has ever "gotten into the weeds", but as one smart person to another he can work with me to recognize issues. He would like some additional information. His first question was why is it that Teije does not receive a salary as Chairman? Are there by-laws, resolutions , exempt recognition application filings, etc. that prohibit it or is there some other reason? Ordinarily, an exempt organization is permitted to provide reasonable compensation to its officers, if it chooses to do so. Second, he asks whether the work being done as an advisor is significantly different from what he would ordinarily be doing as Chairman? In other words, he wants to know whether this is an attempt to get around a rule of no compensation without a real substantive basis for the advisor position. He also asks what kind of disclosure of the appointment to a paid advisor position would there be, and what the approval process for the same might be?
