In today's Turkey where influence of conservative Islam is creeping more and more into social life/education system, the mission of RC has never been more important -- and its celebrating 150 anniversary this year. I know this is not the kind of brain-bending scientific thing that generally appeals to you but I thought I would just flag this for you just the same— I was wondering too if its worth pitching this to Gates Foundation. Turkey, post the ISIS phenomenon, is taking a very conservative turn and we on the board are redoubling our efforts to let people know how important RC has become in this environment and under a government that does not think too highly of its mission. The headmaster of Robert College will be in town next week for board meetings so I could easily bring him by if you/or others would be interested in hearing more on this. I admit this is personal for me. My father was on board of Robert College since mid 1.95os and I have spent my formative years in the country and care quite a bit where it ends up. Anyway — just wanted to get your thoughts and see if you had any ideas about other foundations/billionaires I might pitch this story too. OK -- that is the end of my shameless fund raising plug.
