I was blown away by both the counter-intuitive stories of prison that you related, as well as the discovery that there is another person in the world who lives under the same shadow that I do. Never in my 44 years have I met another person who experiences the same phobia that I do. (It's called emetophobia, by the way.) I have to say that I find it liberating to have discovered another. There have been times that I have felt like an oxymoron — how can someone as rational and functional and smart as me be plagued by something so irrational and debilitating? Hearing you speak of the same fears, the same avoidance behavior, the same irrepressible memories — well, it was comforting to know that someone as brilliant and charming as you could experience this same affliction. As promised, I have a copy of my Zamir Chorale film to send to you, along with the small Israel HaZamir clip (HaZamir is the high school choral program that I told you about). I am excited to have the opportunity to introduce you to this remarkable educational institution to which Jay and I have devoted so much of our time and money. While there are other performances throughout the year, HaZamir's 18t h anniversary concert will be held on March 27 at Jazz at Lincoln Center — and that is the performance that I would like to bring you to. I hope that you can arrange to be in the city that day. I would also like to introduce you to Matthew J agar, the maestro and the man responsible for all the programming of the Zamir Choral Foundation.
