;;,This Week on Kickstarter
APRIL 26, 2012
There's a lot to take away from this week's projects: a found object from a traveling
art exhibition, a new environment for coding that's downright artistic, and a dose of
inspiration from a student turned internationally acclaimed street artist.
Light Table
Beginning to see the light

Light Table is an open source software
development tool based on a simple idea:
programmers should have a dynamic, digital
workspace that surfaces information in one
easily accessible window. Inspired by the
simplicity of an artist's drafting table, Light
Table lets you move things around, keep clutter
down, and bring information to the foreground
in the places where you need it most, so you
can create and experiment in real time.

Before he was an internationally acclaimed art
star, Shepard Fairey was just another
frustrated school kid fighting the powers-that-
be and struggling to find his voice. Obey the
Giant is the narrative retelling of these
formative years, chronicling how a defining act
of street art unexpectedly ignited the world and
transformed Fairey into one of the best known,
most prolific street artists of our time.

Tricks of the trade
Everybody's got a story to tell, and Souther
and Monica are hitting the road to find 'em!
Their portable art installation, The Trading
Tortoise will be a place where people can bring
mementos — stories, objects, pictures — to
trade for other found items. They can then
follow the life span of their keepsake through
an online gallery, seeing what city it goes to
and who trades for it, ultimately creating a
cross-continental network of shared treasures.
