The weather was beautiful and Steve really enjoyed the benefit - we sat at the table next to Elton John - also there Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Leonard Lauder, etc. For Steve that kind of New Yorker elbow rubbing is very enjoyable. We were at the JP Morgan table(s) and sat with Mary's husband Philip, who is a funny guy. Met Alexa Staley (who is Jess' daughter? niece?) who is in her first year of a physics PhD, very nice/smart. And his wife. They all knew you and Mary would introduce me as "she knows Jeffrey" which I thought was odd since you didn't even need a last name and they all knew you. Like Cher or Madonna, you seem to have gvraduated to a one-name status. I spent most of the day with Mary and people she wanted me to meet, like Jamie Dimon. Not sure what I think of him. Made a presentation to the JPM public finance team on our Africa muni finance work. It was a real learning experience for me in terms of the way success for women is viewed in that world. There is a path...corporate boards, etc. Doesn't feel like something for me - I wish I could conform and tell people what they want to hear, or just tow the party line but I know myself. Can't do.
