What about former celebrity assistants? They are discreet, used to crazy schedules, unphased by exciting
people and efficient. Have you ever had one?

I actually have a girl in mind. She is bright, has amazing taste, well travelled, Austrian. She speaks German
and English, French like most Europeans where she can get by, sounds French but isn't fluent. She is about
to finish her BA in Vienna. Very mature, no silly ideas, but not a stick in the mud. She is attractive but
more of the voluptuous variety. Not a supermodel. Absolutely qualified but also 23. I have been helping
her look for jobs and will ask if that is something that might interest her.

I'm not angry with you at all.

I feel like I can be candid with you just as you are with me. I do feel Leon strung me along and may
have criticized my actions post hoc, when you spoke with one another about me. I know it is not AT
ALL your style to string anyone along: you are direct and sincere and I believe you care about
everyone you bother to bring into your very busy life. I know our conversation the other day was
just a way for you to communicate your concern about my course of action and I appreciate it. But
most people aren't like you. They don't care, they aren't clear and they are not invested.
I just reacted to your email in which you described me as a failed experiment. I came to NY
because I trust you and our
unfettered perspective, perhaps more in that moment than my
own. Just because our
-related plans didn't turn out to be the right ones doesn't mean this
trip hasn't already lead to more progress than I can imagine. You were always right, LA is a
wasteland and NY has. in less than 2 months, clarified what it is I should be doing with my life that
1 year in LA could not.
Talk to me about what you expect from me. I trust you. I'm sorry for my tone. I blame my hair
color.

I would be happy to help find you an assistant. Tell me the parameters of the job and I will look.
As far as the experiment is concerned... I didn't know I was part of one. Am I an unsuspecting
Galatea? Or a pawn in your dealings with Leon? Since there was never really a job on the table at
I can only clutch at straws... I uprooted from LA at your behest and was strung along on
somewhat of a fool's errand and now that i have taken up the real and tangible opportunities that
are being presented to me (the film, the column and the book) you say our experiment has failed?
I am nc
rigesting you were aware of or bear any responsibility for just the kind of goose chase
this
thing was but if our experiment was one of seriousness and focus I feel there has
been 'serious' progress.
