Jeffrey,
I just updated the memo on art collection management databases that I prepared for Leon and sent to Melanie at the end
of September (I haven't heard back from Leon on it). As outlined in the attached memo,
recommending that we use
iCollect (www.collectorsystems.com).
Earlier today Sotheby's told me that they just signed an agreement with the makers of iCollect under which Sotheby's will
pay our user fees for two users of iCollect for the first two years (standard fees are $45/user/month). I doubt the cost
savings matter terribly much to Leon, but it provides an opportunity for me to update the memo and re-circulate it to him
via Melanie. I wanted to show it to you first in case you have any comments.
iCollect is a better system than Collectify (my second choice), but iCollect is cloud based and I was told that Leon may have
some concerns about the security of a cloud based system. iCollect uses 128-bit SSL encryption and bank-level security
which I am comfortable with, but if Leon does not want to use a cloud based system, Collectify is a workable alternative
(www.collectify.com).
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments on the attached memo before I send it on to Leon.
Thanks,
Heather
