Hi Dave & John -
Please find attached a .docx file containing the first draft of the Ringo grant.
Everything - including of course, the budget - is subject to change as you see fit. The Budget salaries include
benefits for us three (calculated as approx 1/3 of salary) with percent efforts = Mark 50%, John 40%, and Dave
5%. I tried to get the 2-year budget under $500k but didn't quite make it.
John - I deleted the Program Coordinator - I figured if I'm 50% and at CRI, I should be coordinating. I also made
the Computer Programmer 50% effort - part-time, so without benefits. I think we should try movement
sonification as you suggested but I left it out for simplicity and, possibly, costs. Also, I wanted to stick with
drumming only (for Ringo).
Dave - Patients in the Control Group get standard, 3-hr per day treatment. Patients in the Test Group get 2.5 hrs
of standard treatment and 0.5 hrs of drumming with a therapist. And there's an extra, everybody-included fun
group drum on Fridays. I'm thinking that incorporating the 0.5h drumming into their 3 hrs would avoid line-
iteming the therapists and avoid extra cost, but that of course is under your purview.
I'm hoping to meet with Ringo's co-manager Eric Gardner in Las Vegas this weekend - he suggested I pitch this
project or another iMABS project (or just basic operating needs) to his client Paul Schafer. So if at all possible,
let's try to get a nearly final draft to Eric when I see him this weekend - we'll probably need him to edit it too
before he passes it on to Sir Richard.
Looking forward to the Music, Health & Medicine seminar this Thurs with you as Guest Prof, Dave! See you at
5p in the Faculty Center lobby...
Cheers,
Mark
