He has been hired for $35/hour. In my discussion with JE, I told him he'd asked for $40. He said counter and offer him $30, and that he would pay $35. This is where we landed. The reason I chose Maurice is because he can do a lot of the work himself, and can run crew if he needs their help. Maurice has been hired to repair, replace, and otherwise make like new those underground and work spaces Cash has been photographing. This includes replacing electrical panels, duct work, concrete repair, carpentry work, painting, etc. He was tasked first, however, to complete an addition of tile JE requested in the tiki kitchen. This project is complete. He is now working on a project in the tunnel. Further, as we know from our discussion with Jeanne, she would prefer long-term persons be paid as employees in order for us to be compliant with employment laws. Therefore, I have asked him to fill out EFTA01034534 employee paperwork. We have up to six months to release him as an employee without getting into unemployment issues. I understand that when his specific projects are complete we may choose not to retain him or to offer a reduced salary. Meanwhile, he will work on the projects JE expects him to get done. If this works for you, please reply and copy Una so she can add him to payroll. She wants confirmation from someone other than me that this hire has taken place.
