From: "jeffrey E." <[email protected]> To: Charlie Albright Subject: Re: Hello from Charlie Albright Date: Mon, 17 Apr 2017 22:10:31 +0000 its a privlege to be able to be a part. . when you come to new york . give me a heads up On Mon, Apr 17, 2017 at 6:06 PM, Charlie Albright < > wrote: Dear Mr. Epstein, How are you? I received your email from Mr. Kahn, and wanted to say "hello." I hope you received my letter from Dr. Watson a few weeks ago. Mr. Epstein, I wanted to thank you sincerely for your unbelievable kindness and generosity. We haven't yet met in person, and I am simply dumbfounded and at a loss for words in response to your support of my endeavors and career in music. I am not sure how much you know of my background, but I have been playing since I was three and a half. My father has been ill for most of my life with a rare chronic disease (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) that causes him extreme pain. When the time came to choose a path for college, I decided on doing a dual degree between Harvard (Bachelors in Economics with pre-medicine) and the New England Conservatory (Masters in Music for piano), largely because while I knew that I loved music, I realized that it was an extremely difficult path that requires a combination of hard work, God's blessing, and luck. So a joint degree seemed logical...plus I had always been interested in business/medicine. I actively toured throughout college, and as I finished up, I did an internship on Wall Street...and the time came for me to make a decision. I finally came to grips with what I think I realized for a long time beforehand but didn't admit: that while business/medicine were interests of mine, music was a passion. ...And there is a world of difference between an "interest" and a "passion." So, I applied for a post-grad program and did my A.D. at Juilliard. The Watsons, who I had met through a concert awhile before, very generously invited me to use their apartment in the city. Believe me...the concert world is about as unpredictable as they come. There are ups, downs, and everything in between...but the love I have for music and for performing keeps me going. Of course, that doesn't mean that it isn't extraordinarily difficult, at times. Your kindness, Mr. Epstein, truly encourages me to continue on this difficult path. I am in Seattle at the moment, but of course travel all the time for concerts...I have attached my most recent review and my schedule for the upcoming 2017/2018 season (it hasn't been posted to my website yet). I really hope to meet you in person very soon. If there is ever a time you would like me to perform for you personally, please do not hesitate to ask! I sincerely thank you for your continuing support, Mr. Epstein! It is because of people like you and the Watsons that I am able to continue to do what I do. Hope to see you very soon!
