Dear
. M1ainister,
Please find attached the final report for the IPI project supporting the Republic of
Kazakhstan's Chairmanship of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
I appreciate the outstanding cooperation that we have enjoyed during your leadership of the
OIC which builds on the good partnership that we had at the end of 2010 in support of
Kazakshstan's Chairmanship of the OSCE, including the drafting of the Astana Declaration.
Your Chairmanship of the OIC took place at a dramatic time of transition for the OIC and for
the Muslim Ummah, not least in North Africa and the Middle East. Among the more than one
hundred taskings that we delivered over the course of the contract (see the annex of the
report), we are particularly proud to have supported your outstanding Chairmanship of the
381h Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Astana last June, we are glad to have been able
to provide advice on fast-breaking developments in North Africa and the Middle East, and to
generate ideas for the evolution of KazAid.
None of this would have been possible without your energetic, wise, and even-handed
leadership that has managed to carefully steer the OIC through troubled waters, and, as a
result, has raised its relevance and profile as well as that of you and your remarkable
country.
We look forward to further cooperation with Kazakhstan, in line with our Memorandum of
Understanding, including to strengthen the effectiveness of CICA and to assist you in your
bid for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council.
I look forward to further strengthening our partnership in the years ahead.
Sincerely,
vi
