Dear Mr. Weinberg:
Thank you for your letter of May 3, 2016.
After receiving your letter, I checked with the Hachette Book Group and can confirm that
your December 3, 2015 letter was not received by it.
I am advised that Mr. Patterson and Mr. Connolly are disappointed that Mr. Epstein has
not accepted their request for an interview and the opportunity to present his views and account
of matters for their book. As noted in my May 2 letter, the invitation remains open, but if we do
not hear from you or Mr. Epstein by Monday, May 9, 2016, the authors will take that as a
rejection of Mr. Patterson's interview request. Consistent with prevailing journalistic and
editorial standards and practices, the authors respectfully decline to provide you with a pre-
publication copy of the manuscript.
