I am Joana Vicente, Executive Director of the IFP. This year IFP celebrates the 21" anniversary of the Gotham Independent Film Awards, and we have been fortunate enough to include Peggy on our Advisory Committee for the last two years. The Gotham Awards are the first honors of the film awards season and the premiere fundraiser for the IFP, supporting our numerous programs all year-long. I would love to invite you to attend this year's ceremony and have included a formal invitation with more information. As per Peggy's suggestion, we would request a tax-deductible donation of $6000 to help underwrite the cost of the event. I've included a S0lc3 form displaying our tax-exempt status for your reference. The 201 1 Gotham Awards will take place the evening of November 28 at Cipriani Wall Street in Downtown Manhattan and will be hosted by Edie Falco and Oliver Platt. We are thrilled to be honoring David Cronenberg, Charlize Theron. Gary Oldman, and Fox's Tom Rothman, all of whom will be in attendance. In addition, we have a number of exciting nominees, including Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life, Alexander Payne's The Descendants. Kelly Reichardt's Meek's Cutoff as well as the casts of Margin Call. Beginners, and Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene, among others. Man of the actors of these films will be in attendance, as well as talents such as Tilda Swinton and The Gotham Independent Film Awards honors the filmmaking community, expands the audience for independent films, and supports the work that IFP does behind the scenes throughout the year to bring such films to fruition. To give you a better idea about the IFP, we are the nation's oldest and largest not-for-profit advocacy organization for independent filmmakers. We have supported 7,000 films and offered resources to more than 20,000 filmmakers since our inception in 1979. We have championed the early work of pioneering independent filmmakers such as Charles Burnett. Todd Haynes. Mira Nair. Michael Moore, Joel and Ethan Coen. Kevin Smith. and Todd Solondz. Through our workshops, seminars, conferences. mentorships. and Filmmaker Magazine, we school our members in the art, technology, and business of independent filmmaking.
