Public Corruption Unit Short Form Updates October 2, 2020 A. SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENTS IN CASES • US v. Ghislaine Maxwell, USAO 2018R01618 (AUSAs MB: On August 10, Epstein committed suicide at the MCC. The investigation into Epstein's co-conspirators continues. In particular, we have developed considerable evidence regarding the involvement of Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend, in grooming multiple underage victims for sexual abuse l , Epstein in the 1990s and for participating in some of the abuse, as well as one of Epstein's assistants, who participated in scheduling massages, setting up the massage mom, photographing victims, and paying victims in the early to mid 2000's. On June 29, 2020 a grand jury returned a six count indictment charging Maxwell for her role in facilitating Epstein's abuse of minor girls.
