PURPOSE AND SCOPE. The Bureau of Prisons (Bureau) operates a suicide prevention program to assist staff in identifying and managing potentially suicidal inmates. Each Warden will ensure that a suicide prevention program is implemented consistent with this policy. In addition, Wardens will facilitate a discussion regarding the issue of suicide at department head meetings, staff recalls, lieutenants' meetings, etc., to heighten staff awareness about the need to detect and report any changes in inmate behavior that might suggest suicidal intent. 2. SUMMARY OF CHANGES. This re-issuance adds the following new procedures for preventing inmate suicides: a.
