The preschool program has the sole use of playground 1. The preschool children will be sharing playground
2 with the elementary school children (Kindergarten to 4th grade) at different times. Waiver request to share
playground 2 was submitted during the visit. Shade is provided by building overhang in playground 1 and
several trees in playground 2. The center will not provide transportation for the children . Drinking water
outdoors will be provided by pitchers and cups . There is a working telephone which is (650) 326 9004.
The Fire Marshal granted the fire clearance on August 15, 2013.
LPA Monico discussed the requirements of AB 633, new car seat law, and healthy beverages in child care
with Site Director and Assistant Director.
A review of staff records on 08/20/13 indicates that all individuals are cleared and those that need exemptions have
the exemption. LPAs also reminded Site Director and Assistant Director of the applicable civil penalties for those
adults who have not received fingerprint clearances, are not associated to the license and who come in contact
with or provide care and supervision to the children. Penalty amounts : $100.00 per person per day, minimum of
$100.00 to a maximum of $500.00 per person for an initial violation and a minimum of $100.00 to a maximum of
$3000.00 per person for any subsequent violation within a 12 month period.

Pending the receipt of the following items, a license for 30 preschool children will be granted :
1) Photos showing that Pre-K Room is fully set-up with tables and chairs.

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Marilou Monico and Rita Palacios met with Principal , Evelyn Rosa , Site
Director, Giuliana Defilippis , and Assistant Director, Harriet Geraci for a prelicensing visit. LPAs toured the
facility both inside and out as well as measured the space available for the children . The center is located in
the St. Elizabeth Seton Elementary School site. Indoor measurements are as follows:

PRE-K 59.83 x 25.166 = 1505.681 minus 237.462 (encumbered space)= 1268.219

TOTAL PRESCHOOL INDOOR SPACE: 1268.219 sq. ft. divided by 35 36 children.

There are 3 sinks (45) and 2 toilets (30) available for the children. Only cold water is available in the
10 children's sinks. There is a staff bathroom located across the gym inside St. Elizabeth Elem . School which is
11
labeled "Ladies." The sick child will use the staff bathroom if needed. The sick child will be isolated in the
12
Director's Office located in the Pre-K Room and isolation equipment is provided . The sick child will be
13
supervised by a teacher. The children's bathrooms are located in the Pre-K Room . First Aid supplies are
14 stored in the director's office inaccessible to children. The center will be administering medication and the
15
medication lock box will be stored in the director's office. Parents are responsible for bringing lunches for
16 their children . Snacks will be provided by the center and will be prepared in the kitchen located in the
17
elementary school building. Disposable dishes and utensils are available for the children . Sanitation shall be
18
ensured through hand washing. LPAs observed a trash can with tight-fitting lid in the classroom for the
19 disposal of solid waste. Cleaning products will be stored in the upper cabinet in the classroom . There are 36
20
chairs , 30 cubbies and 30 cots available for the children. Drinking water indoor will be provided by water
21
fountain . Site Director and Assistant Director understand that children must be supervised at all times .
