As ferry pilots, we were tasked with delivering an aircraft from Harbin, China to Chile in South America. Our planned route passed through Blagoveshchensk, Yakutsk, Magadan, and Anadyr in Russia, then entered the United States, with a scheduled technical stop in Nome for refueling before proceeding to Anchorage for an overnight stay. Yesterday, during the non-precision approach at Nome Airport, even after descending to the minimum descent altitude, we encountered moderate to heavy snowfall. The aircraft's wings began to ice up, and the runway remained invisible. With the de-icing system operating at maximum capacity and no time for further de-icing, we were unable to continue the flight and made the decision to divert. The air traffic controllers in Anchorage provided professional and attentive assistance, promptly sharing weather updates for nearby airports, and we ultimately chose to divert to Teller Airport. Upon landing, the staff at Teller Airport and local residents offered us tremendous help. As the wind and snow intensified, they voluntarily assisted with securing the aircraft, arranged for us to stay overnight at a local school, and prepared dinner for us. Teller is a beautiful place, and its people are simple, sincere, and extremely hospitable—many children at the school were curious about us and took the initiative to communicate, which warmed our hearts deeply. We are profoundly grateful; it was the controllers' professional services and the local residents' kind assistance in Teller that saved us. If we ever have the chance to travel to Alaska again, we will definitely choose Teller, and we will bring our families here to express our sincere thanks in person!
