Subject: Julie Brown is planning another story - Request for comment
Please see Miami Herald reporter Julie Brown's email below. I have not, nor do I plan to, engage in an off the
record conversation (nor do I plan to comment). I wanted to flag this, in anticipation of tomorrow's call at 10 am.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help provide support.

I am working on a story about another case handled out of the Southern District of Florida. I am attaching three
documents pertaining to the story. This involves a 19-year-old Texas man who lured a 14-year-old girl over the
intemet to a hotel in Boca. He pleaded guilty and at sentencing, his public defender argued for less than the
guidelines. Ms. Villafana asked for the lower end of the spectrum.
During sentencing, the victim's mother, however, mentioned that the defendant had prior relations with minors.
This moved the judge to issue an admonishment against the Government for intentionally withholding key
information at sentencing.
I am including Mr. Acosta and Lourie's argument to amend the judge's order, which I will mention in the story.
But this all happened just before the Epstein deal was signed. And, as we've previously reported, Ms.Villafana
wrote in emails in September of that same year that she didn't want to tell the judge the scope of Epstein's crimes
and how many victims were involved. So some legal experts I have consulted say this shows a pattern.
I am requesting a comment on this and, as always, I would be happy to talk to you off the record, at least
initially.
