Private Studio Tour: Will Ryman
Wednesday, May 21st, 7 - 8 PM
/q3 Bowery (At Spring St), New York
Join us for a private studio visit with New York sculptor'Nill Rymar. Best
known for his large-scale sculptures—from a golden replica of Lincoln's
childhood log cabin, to a site-specific installation of stainless steel flowers
on Park Ave—Ryman works both within the confines of traditional
galleries and in the public domain. He has exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery
in London, Paul Kasmin Gallery, and MoMA PS1.
Members will get an exclusive preview of Ryman's latest work, which
consists of four different installations made from existing materials - coal,
paper towel, gold leaf, to name a few.
Initially Ryman was inspired by the relationships between mass
production, symbols of American power, and war. However, his finished
work became more about art, art history, and the relationship between the
figurative object and abstraction.
