From: Joscha Bach - To: Jeffrey Epstein <[email protected]> Subject: Deception Sent: Monday, January 19, 2015 7:24:55 PM smime.p7s Here is an observation/idea that you perhaps already know, but it just came to me. [Ekman's studies of facial expressions were triggered by him hearing about exceptional talents in lie detection. He discovered that these people pick up subtle and rapid cues ("micro expression"), and are highly trained in dealing with liars (often because they are judges or secret service agents etc). If someone reached an accuracy of 80% (as opposed to 50% in the general population), Ekman called them "truth wizards". He became an expert himself.] I just learned that some people have built a visual lie detector that works with posture/movement and visual expressions, using machine learning. It has an accuracy of about 80%. It seems to me that instead of doing research into how to get to 82%, we should study the 20% of the population that are near unstoppable liars. What is different about them? Does it make them more successful? And why is the trait not more prevalent? EFTA_R1_00040975 EFTA01746922
