In your stunning and climatically well-endowed paradise, we started a little discussion about imagination.
It strikes me as a topic that is both timely and underresearched. It is one of those logical steps that have
to happen after what Deep Mind is currently doing: turning deep learning networks on their head, by
feeding constraints into the learned model and re-expanding it into visual representations and evolving
simulations. Tremendously useful if we can get it to work.
I have started bouncing off some ideas off people, Bamaby among them, and will continue to do so once
back in Cambridge. Poggio should be great to talk to about this (even though he ought to be busy). Let
me know when you have insights and comments, please!
I am currently at DLD in Munich (anyone I should talk to?), and perhaps foolishly turned down an option
to go to Davos tomorrow, as I did not want to wastefully rebook all our flights, and want to get back to
work.
Cheers,
Joscha
