This morning I was called into the Oakland Air Route Traffic Control Center (aka ZOA ARTCC) to help debug some ATC automation software (which I'd helped to develop) operational anomalies. While there the FAA System Command Center (FAASCC, near DC) issued an advisory about the Fukishima Radioactive Cloud. There have been aviation advisories about this cloud since the earthquake. This morning, however, the location (presented as a perimeter defined by lat/long vertices) changed. Up 'til this morning the cloud was above Fukishima. This morning's advisory indicates this cloud extends farther south, toward (but not yet reaching) Tokyo. Although there's no mention of this change in a news.google.com search, the info is public and available: http://www.fly.faa.gov/adv/adv_otherdis.jsp?advn=55&adv_date=04162011&facId=DCC&title=RADIOACTIVE+CLOUD+A DVISORM0D&titleDate=04/16/11 (NOTE: the times are UTC, aka Greenwich Mean Time). Just wondering: do you think this will significantly affect the Markets, or it just another 'bad news' blip that will have no direct effect. So sorry you have to go through all this. The British press (particularly the Murdoch paper) were particularly loose with their accusations and insulting terminology. My guess is that the info will remain hidden in plain sight, given the apparent laziness & incompetence of the Fourth Estate in the 21st century. If Japan begins to evacuate N.
