The Institute was fortunate enough to win a Grammy Foundation Research Award this past year, and I a nomination for a governorship to the Board of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. I am in the midst of savoring - in proper chronological order - the digital remastcring of The Beatles collection. I recall at our meeting your points about 1960's technology/monophonic recordings (and the folly of the 1980 stereo CD releases) . But I am betwixt and between what the 'correct' order, in fact, is: I know I should listen to "Introducing" in mono and "Abbey" in stereo, but where one should cross over isn't clear. Help?! Please find further details below: Robert Schumann — The Man, the Mind, the Music A conference on 2nd and 3rd October 2010 at St. John's Smith Square The Musical Brain, now a registered charity, which aims to bring together artists, scientists, teachers, therapists and the public to examine the effects of music and other art forms upon the human mind, brain and body, is presenting this two-day event at one of London's leading concert venues. A brochure with conference and concert programme information, incorporating a booking form is attached. We are pleased to be able to offer a student rate of £50 for the two days or £30 for one day. The full rate, which we have kept as low as we can, is £175 for two days or £90 for one day. In the 200th anniversary year of his birth, Robert Schumann's mind and his music will be centre stage.
